POLISH GRAND PRIX

NICK AMBROSE (CANVEY ISLAND CASTAWAYS) won the final round of the GP series although it wasn't enough to claim back the world title as LIAM REAY (MILTON KEYNES CATS) did everything asked of him to score the points he needed, eventually finishing 2nd in the round, and be crowned World Champion for a second consecutive season.  MACIEJ TERCJAK (MILTON KEYNES CATS) also had something to celebrate with his 3rd place in the round lifting him to 7th overall to seal his place in next season's series.  The Grand Final was completed by GABRYS IRZYK (BRATISLAVA BUZZARDS) who rode a great round to almost steal the bronze medal overall but not being able to score a point in his last race meant he faced a fresh CHRIS ADAMS (WEDNESFIELD WANDERERS) in a runoff with the Englishman hanging on to the 3rd place spot that he has held for much of the series.

HANS E BERGESTOL (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) was a happy semi finalist after another good round ensured he finished 5th overall in the final standings.  DENIS GOMOZOV (ABERAVON GEMS) and BRAXTON MCCHESNEY (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) also had good rounds, making it to the semis, but both will face the GP Challenge after not cracking the top 8 overall.  BOGUSLAW KRYZNOWEK (MILTON KEYNES CATS) completed the Semis as a wild card, and proved that his wild card pick for the GP Challenge is a justified one for sure.

From the rest HAYDEN WOOD (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) had a good round but was always on his way to the GP Challenge anyway, where he will be joined by MARTIN SHAW (WEDNESFIELD WANDERERS) who scored 6 here.  STEEN ERIKSEN (CANVEY ISLAND CASTAWAYS) scored only 5 points but amazingly hung on to his 8th place overall as other riders had worse meetings.  SCOTT BRIDGES (ABERAVON GEMS) also scored 5 and missed out on his chance to avoid the GP Challenge.  CHRIS ADAMS (WEDNESFIELD WANDERERS) didn't have the best of rounds but kept his concentration while he waited to see the progress of Gabrys Irzyk before lifting himself to win a runoff and claim the bronze medal overall.  OLLE BJORN THORESEN (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) didn't have a great round but had laid the foundations to ensure he finished in the top 8, 6th in fact, overall.  PETR VERNER (WHITBY VAMPIRES) completed a tough GP series for him personally and will now head to the GP Challenge to see if he can return next season.  Surprisingly joining him there will be FILLIPPE CHONG (WANTAGE KINGS) who has spent most of the season in the top 8, rising as high as 4th at one stage, but had a nightmare, seemingly suffering with machinery troubles, and scored just 1 point to drop down to joint 9th and mean he will have to finish in the top 5 of the Challenge now, or at least take Wild Card pick for next year's series.
