Chantry's Ben Case raced to a superb opening round victory in the Juvenile Jaunt Grand Prix Finals. He had scored a solid 10 points in the main part of the meeting before taking the chequered flag in both the semi-final and the final. He made a sublime start in the final from gate 2 easily taking the win. He was followed home by Lee McAuliffe of Sheffield and Harry Coles from Thornaby. McAuliffe rounding Coles on bend 2 of lap 3 to take the second spot on the rostrum. Both had only scraped into the semis on 8 points but took their chance excellently to make the final. The unlucky rider in the final was Noah Nicholson. The Tunstall youngster was lying in second behind Case when his bike ground to a halt and he had to make do with 4th place.
The other semi-finalists were the 4 fancied riders, Andrew Knapkin (Hull), Frankie Young (Westwood), Darcy Broad (Bottesford) and John Honey (Durham). They will be disappointed not to make the final but are still handily placed with 2 rounds to go. Outside the top 8 Michael Plant of Iwade just missed the semis on count back while the unattached Mickey Spence started well with 2 wins but could only add 1 more point to his total from his last 3 rides. Jordan Trott (Estuary) and Tim Luckhurst (Teesside), both hoping to be front runners, will be upset by their efforts and will have to improve dramatically to be involved in the race for podium places. The same can be said of all the other riders not mentioned as the 16 points collected by Ben Case has given him a nice little lead going into round 2 at the NSSPA Arena.
